The Truth

What is truth? Objective/Subjective?

Modern society has a rather convenient way of dealing with this issue. How can I be true and do whatever I like? How can ME and TRUE be put together?   People say… Do what is true for you..” So now the truth is a subjective thing and what is true for me, is not true for you, so you can choose your ”truth” I can do whatever I like, because I can choose what I want to be true…! So our world runs on this idea (it keeps a kind of peace), that there is NO sure, stable, unchanging, reliable TRUTH. It changes to whatever I want it to be.

This is not the way of Christ. Jesus is the TRUTH, and the only TRUTH. He makes that very clear. He is the ONLY Saviour, because there is no other truth. Jesus is the only way to God, heaven and the only person who can forgive us. What human culture says, is that you can find your own way to heaven, because you have a private truth. If there is a ONE TRUTH, then this cannot be so…

JESUS is reliable, the same every day. He said that. JESUS the same yesterday, today and forever.” JESUS can say that because it is TRUE.

This should give us real hope and a realization that we can trust JESUS.

The truth is, He died for you, to free you from the power of lies and falsehood.

The truth about Jesus is really quite shocking. It required Him to give up His life, to identify himself with sinful people like us, and to allow himself to be killed by us.

We don’t really want to hear it. It shows me up in a bad light. Surely I am not that bad? I do lots of good things, Lord… I do not always tell lies, I try to be honest…. but however we look at it, I am not True. So am I true? Do I want to be true?

Why can I believe Jesus?

JESUS himself is the truth, personified. It’s not just about telling the truth, or showing truth, but His person is the eternal truth of God. There is no other religious leader who would even dare to claim this, as the records we have of their lives, show that they are weak human beings, just like us, who did and said wrong things, and are now dead and gone.

Jesus came as a human being, but was way more than us, in every way. He always did the right thing, He spoke the truth, even to those who hated Him. He did everything His Father in heaven asked Him to do, even to the extent that he went to a cruel death, for the sake of people who hated him and rejected him.

His truthfulness marked Him out from every person who has ever lived. He stood out, not because of what he wore, or how he physically looked, but he had such dignity and a humble attitude, even though he was the God of all things.

Why did JESUS do it? Why did He live with the untruths around Him? Such is his love, that he planned this time when he would come, live a life of poverty and rejection, and go to a cross to pay for those He loves. He was willing to suffer the agony of Calvary, to make His people right with God. To make them true, who were not true. To make us TRUE who are not true….

Why I need to believe Jesus…

Well, maybe with some will power, I can do it myself….If I just try hard enough.

No. Impossible. There is no amount of self-examination will identify in our mind, our untruthfulness. I cannot even remember the lies I have told.

We cannot see it, because it is such a part of our being. JESUS said I actually refuse the truth, and I believe things that are not true so easily.

JESUS can change all that, in a moment…!

His saving power can overcome my dishonesty, in fact, all my sin, and he can cleanse it away, and make it like it never happened. He can turn a dishonest person, Me, into an honest person…

Will you trust Him? Will you ask Him to change you and make you a true person?

There is a famous liar, who every day seeks to keep you away from JESUS the truth. He hates the truth and every word he says is a lie.

Satan says:

  1. It’s all a bit extreme, and you are not that bad really. Maybe he is saying that to you right now! You don’t need to listen to that, you’re an Ok person…. It’s a lie, because JESUS says, 1 John 1:8… If I say I have no sin, the truth is not in me..”
  1. No one could change you like that. We are the way we are… JESUS can’t do it, you are too bad… Look at all the people around you. They just stay the same…. It’s a lie, because JESUS changed so many people, you can read about them. John 8:31…. The truth will set you free…”
  1. All the clever people don’t believe in Jesus. This is a great one. There are clever people who scoff at God and tell Christians they are stupid. Some times they are on TV. Maybe you have people at school… They are intimidating… It’s lies… because JESUS said, “The fool has said in his heart, there is no God..” Psalm 14:1 That’s pretty clear. The scoffers may seem big now, but God will not be mocked…

Look at JESUS. He walked this sinful earth and never sinned. He never lied, and He gave up His life to save liars and sinful people. That is extreme!! We would never do that. Only HE can change LIARS… John 8:31… JESUS said to the people, if you follow me, you will know the truth, (Know HIM!) and the truth will set you free..”

Amazing claims… JESUS must be GOD, or He is lying..!!

Look at any Christians you know. How do they live their lives? Ever asked them?

Clever people do speak against JESUS, but end up ranting and raving against Him, and the cleverness goes out the window. Who is motivating them?

Am I ready to face the truth..?

Maybe you should find a Christian friend and ask them about their life?

Ask one of the leaders and we can get you a biography..?

Maybe you could ready the Bible. Read the New Testament about all that JESUS said. Did it all come true?

Acts 4:12…..There is no other name, in the whole earth, given to people, so that we can be saved…

ONE JESUS   ONE TRUTH

The Lion is the Lamb

Revelation-5-5
And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside.”

This Revelation picture shows a situation at the end of all things, where there is no goodness great enough to judge all things. The Apostle John sees this and sheds tears because all that is good seems to be completely overcome.

Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

One of the elders in heaven comforts him, that the might LION of the tribe of JUDAH will overcome. The LION is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ, the King of all things, the top of the hierarchy of all being. He has conquered  all evil and all who oppose God.

Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne”

This LION is also a LAMB. The lion that overcame by His great power, shows that power to be the seeming weakness of the lamb. The lamb that deliberately gave Himself on the cross, to be beaten, tortured and destroyed, is now the Lamb upon the throne of all time and eternity.

“And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”

And He remains forever, the eternal and glorious God, putting away all evil and those who deliberately follow evil, and establishing a reign of glory and holiness. All His people are there, from every nation, tribe and language, and they will reign. They are not like Him, but have been made like Him, through His sufferings and His great love for them.

All glory belongs to JESUS, the Lamb on the throne, the Lion of Judah, for only He is worthy.

Acts 4:1-22

This is a most exciting book recording the Acts of the Apostles/ Acts of JESUS

Peter and John were speaking in Jerusalem. They preached the good news about JESUS. God demonstrated His power and a lame man was healed. He had been begging in the streets for 40 years… He had asked for money, but Peter and John didn’t have any. Peter said to the man, “In the name of JESUS CHRIST, get up and walk..”

Get up and walk…. he did!!

Everyone saw it. Peter told everyone watching that they too could believe in this same JESUS, and thousands did believe.

The Authorities were not happy. They arrested Peter and John, put them in prison, and next day called them to face a tribunal. To explain this new religion. Annas, the High Priest was there and his family and many other powerful people.

Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, stood before them, his mind and heart clear, and spoke. “it is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who you crucified but who God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.”

What power!! This was Peter’s opportunity, and he was very bold.

Peter didn’t hold back- he quoted the  Old Testament scriptures.. “The stone the builders have rejected has become the chief CORNERSTONE.” JESUS is that most important stone. SALVATION is only found in HIM- Only in Him can our sins forgiven and we can become part of GODS kingdom…

The leaders were amazed- Peter and John were so bold courageous.

They realised that they had been with JESUS..! They were speaking like JESUS.

The lame man was standing there- and they couldn’t dent that. Peter and John were sent out of the tribunal. The leaders were afraid of the people because so many believed, but they wanted to stop this message.

The told Peter and John NOT TO SPEAK JESUS!!!

Peter replied, “Should we listen to GOD or you?”

Nothing could stop this message, because it was from GOD. Our response to what GOD says is crucial, as BELIEVING is what pleases GOD…

Loosing everything…

Job-Suffering

Job lost everything he had, which was a lot…

His children all died in one horrific event, his possessions stripped away in one day, home, family, health – all gone..

Why did God allow it..? Job loved God and kept His ways, so why this?

Job suffered greatly and his friends came to “comfort” him. The told him it was because he was evil. Even his friends couldn’t comfort him, or offer him reliable answers.

Job speaks to God:

“I am unworthy—how can I reply to you?
I put my hand over my mouth.
I spoke once, but I have no answer—
twice, but I will say no more.”

God speaks to Job:

“Would you discredit my justice?
Would you condemn me to justify yourself?
Do you have an arm like God’s,
and can your voice thunder like his?
Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor,
and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.”

God shows Job, that there is no one like Him, and no one but Him to come to.

Job sees that LORD like never before,

“My ears had heard of you
but now my eyes have seen you.
Therefore I despise myself
and repent in dust and ashes.”

Job remains faithful to God even in the extreme suffering..

God sends trouble, and permits suffering, so that we might understand and come to Him. This is our single hope, and only way to eternal blessing. God showed His love to Job, and gave back to him, more than he had before…

THE CHAMPION

David&Goliath

We are all in a monumental fight, weather you are a Christian or not a Christian, there are enemies waiting to trap you and destroy your life. This is the same for everyone. No one is exempt.

Who is this enemy?

We have 3 enemies:

  1. the devil is waiting for you and will trap you and ruin your life. He is huge, like the enemy in this story, Goliath.
  2. We have the sinfulness of this world, which will take us away from JESUS and make us think everything is Ok, and lead us into wrong life-styles.
  3. We have our own sinful hearts, that want the wrong things and have no faith or desire for God.

These are too much for us to deal with. How can these enemies be defeated?

The story starts with..

The people of God, the Israelites, are facing a terrifying enemy, The Philistines. The Philistines had a champion, Goliath, who they used to frighten the Israelites so much, that they were paralysed with fear.

Goliath was approximately 3 metres tall. He wore chain mail 150KG in weight, a sword, a spear and a javelin.

INTIMIDATING!

King Saul is terrified, and all his soldiers.

None of them could fight, they were helpless with fear.

Every day for 40 days, Goliath has come out of the Philistine camp and railed against the Israelites. He scoffs at them and insults them, as he knows they are afraid of him.

“Send someone to fight me…If he kills me, we will be your servants. If I kill him, you will be our servants…” He defies God and His people, and Saul and all his army are dismayed and terrified…

In the hill country of Bethlehem, lived an old man- Jesse. Jesse’s 3 oldest sons were in Saul’s army, and he sent his youngest son David to bring food to his brothers at the battle-field. David was only 15 years, and had spent his short life looking after sheep.

David goes down to the war-zone with the food, and his trusty sling-shot, tucked in his belt.

David looks so ordinary, so feeble and when he heard Goliath shouting at the armies of God, he is amazed that no one will go and confront Goliath.

Saul hears about David and David announces that he will go and fight Goliath. He is too small..!! David tells Saul that he knows God will give the victory to him, because God was with him when he fought the lion and the bear, which attached the sheep.

David collects 5 smooth stones from the stream and sets out to face the giant.

Goliath is furious when he sees David. “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. “Come here,” he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals!”

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

Goliath moves forward to attack.

David pulls out a stone, puts it in the sling shot. And the stone flies straight into the forehead of Goliath.David runs over and stand over Goliath, kills him and cuts off his head. The Philistine armies run off, and the Israelites get their courage back and chase them down the roads to their capital city, and kill the soldiers along the way, lining every road with dead bodies.

Saul asks David “Who are you?”

David says, “I am the son of your servant Jesse of Bethlehem.”

Easter-Cross2

Bethlehem! Where have we heard that before?

Who else came from Bethlehem?

David was just a young man in this story, but he was God’s chosen King, and he became King of Israel. He was Israel’s greatest king…

King David was the forerunner of another great King- God’s true and eternal King – JESUS..

Just as David killed and overcame the enemies of God’s people thousands of years ago, so JESUS has delivered His people from their enemies also.

  1. Satan is bound up. He cannot hurt the Christian at all. Like Goliath, he can frighten and annoy us, but JESUS has conquered Him, just as surely as David killed Goliath.
  2. The world is silenced. Its attractions seem to fade away over time and they have less and less hold over us. We are drawn to the love of the LORD JESUS CHRIST, as we know He has fought he battle for us and he is our Champion.
  3. And our hearts are changed. We have the Holy Spirit within us to give us the strength to continue on the Christian way. We want to obey and we trust our Champion because of who he is and what He has done.

images-1

This is the power of the LORD JESUS to deliver us from sin and the hurtful things that keep us away from Him.
JESUS went out into the battle-field for us- He went to the cross and allowed himself to be crucified… it seemed a strange victory… but he rose again the third day- forever. All sin was beaten and He made it possible for us to be forgiven and to be victorious in His name.

If we are trusting in JESUS, then we are part of His people… JESUS IS OUR CHAMPION…

If we are not trusting in JESUS, we have no champion and will be always afraid like the Israelites.

God’s power in us

The way of success lies in always doing the things you know you can’t do. That way, you are always concious of the power of God, and that by leaning on Him in FAITH, you can overcome all things.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me..”

Problems are only problems to us, not to God, and he can answer any prayer that is prayed truthfully and whole-heartedly.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart…. there are no half-measures and room for purile doubt. He knows what he is doing and his plans for you are always right, even if they seem painful or too difficult.

Don’t depend on your own understanding… Gods view is way above ours, and he knows the end of a matter and how it all hangs together with the beginning.

The Book of Provers says… “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight..”
‘For your ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all your paths.”
