“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” Ephesians 6:17

“Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;” 2 Thessalonians 2:8

“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

“In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength.” Revelation 1:16

The sword of the Spirit is undoubtedly the Word of God.

When God speaks it comes to pass. His word cannot fail. He never breaks His word. When He promises eternal life to all who come to Him in repentance and faith, It happens. When he condemns to eternal punishment all who do not repent, It comes to pass.

This is a fearful God.     “our God is a consuming fire.”

The Christian has the Holy Spirit living within them, and He powers them and teaches them about God and truth. The Christian understands and can understand the Word of God because of the Spirit within. The Christina wants to understand and sees the significance of God’s word.

The Word of God preserves our Christian life and gives us the strength to fight and serve God every day.

When Jesus spoke words, they happened.

The storm on the sea of Galilee was made calm, because Jesus told it to be still.

Blind people were immediately healed because Jesus commanded the disability to go.

Dead people were raised to life because Jesus told them to get up!

As we read God’s word, it challenges our…..
  • thought patterns (blaming people, worldly comforts to make us feel better)
  • our feelings (resentment because we think other people get what we want)
  • Our attitudes toward other people (as long as I’m happy and have everything I need, then I’m satisfied)
  • The prejudices we harbour towards people (I think people from China are not good people)
  • The type of motivations we have for doing things (I want people to think I am really good)

The devil will try to tempt us and bring us down. He can even quote scripture to try to prove to us that something is a good idea…

He tried this with Jesus, but Jesus is the eternal Word and did not listen to his false claims.

It is a very good idea to get to know God’s Word very well. If we know it thoroughly, then we can use the Sword of the Spirit when we need to. We will know God’s word accurately and we will not go wrong.

The more I know the BIBLE  the SHARPER the SWORD will be.!!

The Scripture is sufficient for every situation in life. There is nothing that will happen to me that is not covered in the Bible.

The Scripture never goes out of date. The truth of God’s Word is absolutely correct and applicable for me today. It is not old-fashioned and it is not irrelevant. We ignore it at our peril.

God’s Word never fails. It always comes true and those who know it are wise. As the Christian reads it, it becomes more and more precious.

Don’t let anyone put you off.

Read it, meditate on it, learn it, obey it, speak it….
