Zion

My friend reminded me today, that I am a child of Zion.

Sounds like I am someone regal or from a great city somewhere…

When I come to Jesus for a new life, he takes away the burden of guilt for all my sins, and brings me into his family- the royal family of heaven. The Bible calls heaven “Zion” and is the place where the King of Kings lives and all his children will be there with him on the last great day. Time will be no more, and all trouble gone, and sins finally put away forever.

If you are trusting in Jesus, this is your destiny, and no one can take it away. As you face temptation, remember – child of Zion, that he has conquered the battle already, and will help you face it and fight it.

We all want stuff

It’s the human way.

I have a strong desire to get the things that attract me, and that help me fit in with everyone else. It doesn’t matter what the cost is, or how unreasonable it is to pressurise my parents, I still want the stuff.

I cannot run the risk of being different, or standing out for the wrong reasons. I need the trainers, the jacket, the hairdo, the accessories, so that I am part of the crowd and won’t be picked on for wearing “cheap” stuff.

I’m quite insecure, really, and am not very good at sticking up for the right things, or choosing a reasonable way to behave or live my life. I get pushed around by others and find myself always worrying about how I look or speak.

Its a prison for me, and I don’t know how to get out of it. I seems to want more and more, and I need money badly.

A man who had almost nothing said, “I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full.” How can someone who has nothing, give me everything? He also said, if I live my life in this world the way I want, I will loose it. And if I give up what I want for His sake, I will save it.

JESUS had nothing, yet he was the Lord of the Universe. He says I can trust him, and I will gain everything that lasts forever….

Something

I am something to God, not a nothing.

The world is full of “put-downs” that make me feel second best.
God does not think of me as a worthless piece of dirt. The value he puts on me as a unique person of his making, is shown in the fact that he himself, the mighty God, came down to make me his own.
He forgives my wrongdoing and raises me up and brings me into his own family, his son or daughter, and brother or sister with Jesus his son, and heir to the whole creation.
Jesus has made it possible for me to have this as a gift, if I repent from my sins and believe in Him.
I belong to Jesus, and can ask for all things in his glorious name. I am his precious child, and that will never change, because it is by his grace he has saved me.
Some day I shall be made the person I am supposed to be and shall reign over his everlasting kingdom and no one will put me down or label me as second class.
I love him because he loved me first and bought my forgiveness by shedding his own blood.

“As they were untying it, the owners asked them, “Why are you untying that colt?” (Luke 19:33 NLT)

Jesus predicted events. He knows what will happen because he is the almighty God and all things belong to him, and all the future is his. He has asked for this donkey (colt) to be brought, as he is going to go to Jerusalem, where he will be killed, as he knew would happen.

“Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!” (Luke 19:33, 38 NLT)

Many people praised Jesus and seemed to love him, but it was only a passing fashion. The very next week, they were nailing him to a cross, to die in agony, for our sins. Jesus is The Lord of everything. What they said was true, although they didn’t really show it by their thoughts and deeds. We also don’t want to face up to our bad attitudes and sinful ways, so we just put on a good face but really we don’t love Jesus at all.

“But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep.” (Luke 19:41 NLT)

Jesus knows what will happen to people who reject him. He knows that being truly sorry and giving our lives to him, is the only way to avoid punishment. He loves us, and he weeps at our stubbornness. He even waits for us to come to our senses. He also knows that his way is the best way, and leads to a real and everlasting life.

“How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace. But now it is too late..” (Luke 19:42NLT)

What fearful words to hear from the Saviour of the world! These people have wasted their time, and rejected him, and now it is too late for them. It is not too late for you.

Jesus calls you to be wise and come to him and ask for forgiveness and a new start…
